Former minister and YSR Congress leader Uppunutala Purushothama Reddy died of a brain stroke in the Apollo Hospital at Hyderabad during the early hours of Saturday. He was 80 and is survived by wife two sons and two daughters.
Uppunutala suffered a brain stroke and was admitted to the hospital on May 1. He has been in coma since then. The end came on Saturday morning.
Uppunutala, who was from Addaguduru village under Motkuru mandal of Nalgonda district, served as minister in the cabinets of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and Jalagam Vengala Rao. He also served as the chairman of the Telangana Development Board and the APIIC. He was elected to the Assembly from the Ramannapeta constituency of Nalgonda district twice. He was also a member of the Legislative Council. Purushottama Reddy has recently joined the YSR Congress.
